Nature is calling

Press release 13/04/2023

Nature is calling
A weekend getaway, a retreat to the countryside, or a refreshing stay at the summer house, three ways to describe the same activity. This is how a creative couple unwinds when they leave their apartment in Nørrebro to relax and recharge. In their house on Møn, they have truly integrated nature into their interior design by choosing curtains adorned with motifs of flora and fauna in vibrant hues representing the four seasons, set against a backdrop of sunlit yellow and water-inspired turquoise.

The house is kept intentionally minimalist, as the couple who owns it is surrounded by sets and materials in their daily work. For this reason, it contains only the bare necessities, ensuring that the experience of untamed nature remains unspoiled. This is also why they have chosen curtains with motifs as enchanting as nature unfolding just beyond their windows.

Beyond adding life to the large, almost bare rooms, the textiles also serve a practical purpose—helping to keep the spaces from becoming freezing cold in winter and unbearably hot in summer.

Tailored Craftsmanship
Stilling’s task was to select the right curtain tracks and roll them to ensure that the many meters of fabric could glide effortlessly from one end of the room to the other. This means that the 35 meters of tracks have been adapted to the room’s corners and mounted with brackets capable of supporting the extensive length. To keep the AP 9001 tracks visually unobtrusive, they have been spray-painted in the same white shade as the walls.

Since 1949, Stilling has been at the forefront of developing curtain tracks and accessories. They understand the challenge of managing textiles that billow in the wind when doors are opened. To address this, they have equipped the curtains with a so-called wave clip, which prevents them from being caught by the wind.

A wave clip is a small, practical mechanism attached around the outermost gliders on the track, ensuring that the curtains stay in place even on a very windy day.

ILLUSION
The couple always intended for the natural beauty of Møn to take center stage. However, after spending a winter in the desolate landscape, where daylight disappears as early as in the afternoon, they reached out to Vang Stensgaard to create a “stage curtain” that could evoke the essence of nature. And that is exactly what they received—vivid petals, lush greenery, and soaring birds—a true midsummer dream.

Stilling carried out the project in collaboration with Vang Stensgaard. While the Danish family-owned company designed and installed the tracks, Anja Krag Vang and Mia Stensgaard designed and crafted the curtains for the cottage on Møn.
