PROTECT YOUR HOME WITH ELETRIC CURTAIN TRACKS
In a beautiful old villa outside of Copenhagen, sunlight floods the living room through the giant window. The light is beautiful and uplifting, but also hard on the furniture and decor. Fortunately, there is an easy solution: Electric curtain tracks can automatically draw the curtains when the rays of sunshine are too harsh.
The young couple, who have recently taken over the former artist studio, fell in love with the impressive window. The window enabled the painters of old to create their artwork with optimal light. But now that the room is no longer functioning as a workshop, it is necessary to be able to control both light and temperatures.

MOTORIZED MOVES
An electric curtain track can be controlled either with a remote control or connected to a Somfy TaHoma® Smart Home hub and thus controlled with a smartphone or via voice control.
But the hub also allows sensors to be attached to the curtain track so that the movements of the curtains are decided by the intensity of the sun and the temperature in the room. If the sunlight is too harsh, the curtains will close and protect people, furniture and decor from the harmful UV rays.
KEEPING IT COOL IN SUMMER – AND WARM IN WINTER
Curtains are a great way to insulate windows and houses against heat loss in winter or overheating in summer. But they need to be used wisely. With electric curtain tracks, the curtains can be pre-set to draw close, when indoor temperatures rise in the summer. And in winter, the tracks will likewise close the insulating curtains, thus helping preserve the heat in the rooms.
SHEER CURTAINS
Let’s return to the old villa, where the new owners chose white, sheer curtains from Swedish Almedahl. The fabric is so transparent that you can still sense the sculptural shapes of the window when the curtain is drawn. But it is thick enough to offer sun protection.
The white motor track blends in with the ceiling so that it does not draw attention away from the beautiful window. The track has been placed so that it covers the entire wall and not just the window. This adds extra curtain fabric, which not only looks elegant but also creates better acoustics in the high-ceilinged room.
The same white curtain fabric can be found in the adjoining living room, though the window here is much smaller. For this room, the couple has chosen a white AP 2500 curtain track.

BATTERY OPERATED TRACKS
You do not always have access to power outlets near your curtains – especially in older buildings. But with motorised curtain tracks from Stilling, you can choose either a motor that is plugged in or a motor with a rechargeable battery.
The battery track has the advantage of not requiring wires, and therefore it can be placed anywhere. However, the battery must be recharged, and it is therefore not recommended to choose a battery operated motor for curtains which are difficult to access – for example if they are mounted at a height of many meters.
