CONTROL LIGHT AND HEAT WITH MOTORIZED CURTAIN TRACKS FROM STILLING
In a beautiful old villa in Charlottenlund, daylight pours through a large studio window, filling the living room with sunlight. It is both uplifting and atmospheric – but also demanding on the interior. Fortunately, there is a solution. Motorized curtain tracks can automatically draw the curtains when the sun’s rays become too intense.
The young couple who recently took over the former artist’s residence were immediately drawn to the impressive window. It once allowed painters to create their work in the best possible light. Today, however, the room no longer serves as a studio, and it has become necessary to control light, heat and cold from the large glass surface – something that can be easily managed with motorized curtain tracks.

AUTOMATED RHYTHMS
Motorized curtain tracks can be controlled either by remote control or connected to a Somfy TaHoma® Smart Home hub and operated via smartphone or voice control. The hub also makes it possible to connect sensors, allowing the curtains to follow automated rhythms based on sunlight intensity and indoor temperature.
When the sun’s rays become too intense, the curtains close automatically, protecting people, furniture and artwork from harmful UV rays.
KEEP YOUR LIVING ROOM COOL IN SUMMER – AND WARM IN WINTER
Curtains are an effective way to insulate windows against both heat loss in winter and overheating in summer. However, this requires them to be used actively.
With motorized curtain tracks, the curtains can be set to close automatically when the sun’s rays begin to overheat the home during summer, while the insulating fabric helps retain warmth during winter.
SHEER CURTAINS
Back in Charlottenlund, a white curtain from the Swedish weaving mill Almedahls was chosen for the studio window. It is so sheer that the slim muntins and the sculptural form of the window remain visible even when the curtain is drawn. At the same time, it still provides protection from the sun’s rays.
The white motorized curtain track blends seamlessly into the ceiling, ensuring it does not disturb or overshadow the sculptural quality of the window. The track has been installed to cover the entire wall, not just the window. This also allows for more curtain fabric, creating a sense of elegance, added warmth, and improved acoustics in the high-ceilinged room.
The white curtains continue into the adjoining living room, although the window here is much smaller. For this room, the couple chose a white AP 2001 curtain track.

BATTERY-POWERED MOTORIZED CURTAIN TRACKS
There is not always access to a power outlet near your curtains – especially in older buildings. With motorized curtain tracks from Stilling, you can choose between a motor connected to a power supply or a motor with a rechargeable battery.
Battery-powered curtain tracks have the advantage of requiring no wiring, allowing for flexible installation. However, the battery needs to be recharged, so this solution is not recommended for curtains that are difficult to access – for example, if they are installed several metres above the floor.
Our motorized curtain tracks can also be curved or bent to fit most window shapes.
